Principal Report

Mr Ilker Temizkan

Dear Sirius College Parents and students;

I would like to welcome you all back to another fantastic year. We are so excited about the fresh start of a new educational year which we believe will bring happiness, success and joy to our students and the communities that we belong to.

It has been a smooth transition into the year with all the changes within the College. The growth in primary school has meant that the previous secondary girls' classes have been transformed into upper primary classes. There are currently 2 classes per year level in primary.

The secondary girls' classes have moved to the previous VCE building, which has meant the VCE students have joined forces with the boys. The boys' building has come alive with the presence of the VCE girls and boys.

The above changes were only possible with the support of our parents which is pleasing to see as our family is growing. This, unfortunately, has created some issues with the traffic afterschool. The College is in the process of rectifying the issue.

The council is finalising roadworks on Stanley Road (back road of the College). Once finalised the College will ensure traffic flows through to Stanley road which will prevent the blockage at the exit on Chapel rd.

In the meantime we hope we have the support and understanding of all parents.

There is a new online reporting system we are implementing this year. Coolsis is out and SEQTA is in. Currently the only access to access is by teachers and students. Parents will be given access soon. We are hoping SEQTA will be as user friendly as Coolsis was.

Old Isik/ Sirius College uniforms are in the process of being phased out. All boys should be wearing Sirius College pants and shirts. Girls should be wearing Sirius College shirts. The only uniform item that is still in transition is the old blazers and the secondary girls' skirts.

Primary students should all have the new uniforms. 2017 will ensure that all students will be wearing the new uniforms.

The new coordinators for 2016 are

Yesim Basturk (Primary)
Ayse Berk (Secondary Girls)
Adem Aydogan (Secondary Boys)
Saniye Coskundag (VCE)

We congratulate our new coordinators and hope it will be a great year for all.

I wish you, your family and the community all the best.
